Overview
The Motorcycle Crash Map Viewer highlights motorcycle collisions within a selected community. Toggle severity and alcohol involvement, review summary counts, and drill into crash details from a single screen. Launch the tool from Motorcycle Crash Map Viewer in the Analysis & Visualizations menu.
- Summarize motorcycle crashes by severity and alcohol involvement.
- Inspect individual crashes on the interactive map or via Google Street View.
- Export filtered results for reporting or enforcement planning.
Choose a location
Start by selecting a county and city or an unincorporated area. The map automatically loads your selection.
Tip
Need to analyze a corridor that crosses city boundaries? Choose the surrounding county and use the Zoom to area search box to enter a custom address.
Filter crashes
Once the location loads, adjust the available filters to refine the map and summary table.
- Severity: Fatal, Severe Injury, Other Visible Injury, or Complaint of Pain.
- Alcohol involvement: Include or exclude alcohol-related crashes.
- Years: Focus on specific years of data.
Understand map symbols
Colors indicate severity and icon shapes differentiate alcohol involvement. Use the legend and table below as a quick reference while exploring the map.

Click a crash symbol to view a summary pop-up with location details and a link to an interactive Google Street View profile.
Street View
Street View opens in a new tab. If the imagery is outdated, check the capture date in the upper-left corner to understand when the view was recorded.
Review results & exports
Summary statistics
View crash totals by severity and alcohol involvement. The counts refresh automatically when filters are adjusted.
Crash list
The crash list provides primary and secondary streets, offset distance, direction, and case ID. Use the list to review locations one by one.
Print and download
Use Print to capture the current map, summary table, and crash list—print to PDF for a shareable report. Select Download to export crashes to a CSV file; reference the SWITRS codebook for field definitions.
