Browser requirements for TIMS

Check the supported browsers and learn how to fix a common Internet Explorer font issue that hides icons.

Supported browsers

TIMS works best in modern, standards-compliant browsers. We recommend the latest versions of:

  • Google Chrome
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Microsoft Edge
  • Apple Safari (version 9 or later)

Internet Explorer 11 is still supported for basic TIMS functionality, but the SWITRS GIS Map is not available in Internet Explorer 8–10.

Fix missing icons in Internet Explorer

If icons are missing in Internet Explorer on Windows 10, the Untrusted Font Blocking feature may be enabled. Use either Group Policy or the Registry Editor to disable the restriction.

Disable through Group Policy

  1. Open the Group Policy Management Editor.
  2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > System > Mitigation Options.
  3. Set Untrusted Font Blocking to Do not block untrusted fonts.

Disable through the Registry Editor

  1. Open regedit.exe and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Kernel.
  2. Create a QWORD (64-bit) Value named MitigationOptions if it does not exist.
  3. Set the value to 2000000000000 to turn off font blocking.

Important: Restart Windows for the change to take effect.
